Planning:
In the first couple weeks of the course:
Stations with podcasts, blogs, vlogs, etc to explore exemplars and platforms.
What if we created "modules" based on the overall expectations for each course. They decide which ones they want to tackle for each unit but they have to pick one for each.
Collaborative projects are optional.
Writing tasks non-negotiable: expository essay, opinion piece, paragraphs that cite sources and integrate quotations,
After exploring the curriculum, kids basically have choice board for each unit where they have to pick a module from each course, and a writing task and reading type to do.
Mini-lessons created based on areas of need we see. (Okay but instead of that, we use the online curriculum in D2L).
Create a Project Proposal Form.
We each give an exemplar of how to approach the project proposal forms in two different ways. I model one way. Jason models another.
